Summer’s Officially Here!

school’s over and summer’s started!!  well… almost.  i still have a philosophy paper that is due on wednesday, and i’ll need to finish it before i can officially begin my summer.  my philosophy professor was kind enough to extend my paper’s deadline because i had to leave grand rapids today for toronto.  in fact, im sitting in the detroit airport right now awaiting my flight for toronto.  so now, i’ll need to write my essay in toronto and then email it to my professor by wednesday.

summer school starts on monday at the university of toronto, and i’ll be taking two courses: intro to psychology and contemporary british fiction.  the credits i get from these courses will fulfill two core requirements, which loosens up my class schedule next year.  speaking of class schedule, i actually did pretty well in registration this time around and i got the classes i wanted!  i’m going to be taking 14 credit hours with all my classes spread out over the week.  two of the classes will be honors classes (oral rhetoric and history), so i’ll still need to work pretty hard.  my latest class will end at around 2:30 pm, so everything finishes early.  it’s going to be nice, and i’m really looking forward to fall semester.

university of toronto awaits me, and i’m curious as to how everything will work out.  so far it’s been very smooth.  i’ll be living downtown, where i’m renting a room from a family house.  some of my high school classmates are also studying at the university of toronto, so i’ll be able to buy their textbooks from them.  it turns out one of my buddies actually took the two courses i’m going to take, so i can buy the required textbooks from him.  i’ve also got some possible clients for web design.  two real estate agents and a church wants to discuss website possibilities with me.  if all goes well, then i’ll also be able to do some freelance web design and earn some money to pay for my expenses.  another church may want me to lead some music-related workshops, such as live sound-mixing and worship band dynamics.  again, i’m meeting up with the youth pastor to discuss possibilities with him.

i’m also going to have some time to just relax and enjoy the NBA and NHL playoffs.  i also want to hit up the cinemas and watch some of the summer blockbusters, such as The DaVinci Code.  while doing all this, i’ll get to hang out with some of my high school buddies and other friends who i haven’t seen in a long time.  during spring break, i couldn’t see everyone i wanted to, so i’ll get another chance during the summer.  it’s going to be a good time, and i can’t wait to catch up with everyone.

so much to do, and so little time.  i hope i’ll manage to get everything done!
