Spring Banquet 07: Grand Haven
some of the lovely ppl i was hanging out with
i never expected this, but grand haven reminds me of california! like certain area by LA, grand haven is a beach town, with its own pier and lighthouse. my first impression was that it’s a dainty town, with lovely small shops lining the beachfront. our banquet was held at one of the restaurants facing the beach, portabello’s. it’s a quality place, and i definitely wouldn’t mind going there again. if i get the chance, i’d love to explore grand haven. it’s a really pretty place!
exploring the pier during sunset
our dorm has 2 banquets a year, a fall banquet and a spring banquet. this was my last dorm banquet (unless i crash some next year), and it sure was a great one. definitely the best one i’ve been to so far. props to the students who organized it!
and here’s the sunset
my roommate and ping pong buddy
so we got to the restaurant at around 6 (it was only a 30-45 min drive from calvin), grabbed some seats, and then took tons of photos with people. after socializing for a while, i had already built up a tremendous appetite. when the food came out, i was all over it. great food, great company, plus each table had a mini fishbowl with 2 goldfish. whoever decorated this banquet pulled out all the stops! after a lovely dinner, a few groups went outside to walk the pier and watch the sunset. so i grabbed my camera and headed out, shooting photos along the way.
wonderful people!
more wonderful people!
i didn’t think about it at the time, but it got chilly pretty quick. soon, all of the girls were wearing our jackets, and i was running around and doing jumping jacks to stay warm. luckily, since i’m so out of shape, i don’t need to move much to warm up. any physical exertion is already enough to get my heart pumping. eventually, we returned to portabello’s, where the dance was already in full swing. so for those of us wearing heels, off they went, and we boogied until the break of dawn!
this fish was just lying on the sidewalk by the beach
