Semester Two Starts!

how i wish i could find time to play again… well, it’s been a CRAZY start to my second semester.  it’s only by God’s grace that i’m still up to speed in all my classes.  some poor planning made my first two weeks a bit hectic, but i’ve finally gotten some time to blog.  intramural basketball, textbook problems, young life, and my new love, bramble.  there’s a lot to write about, so read on!

intramural basketball started a few days ago, and my team had our first game of the season.  i was totally out of shape and i hadn’t touched a basketball in 2 months, so i was pretty excited.  it was gonna be fun for sure!  right, so we head in and play.  after around five minutes of play, i subbed myself out because i was totally winded.  yeah, 5 minutes of game time.  i come back in later when i’ve recovered and play some more before subbing myself out once again.  it’s always nice to have fresh legs out there.  by the end of the game, everyone was pretty winded and i was fresh, so i got to score some easy baskets.  the game ends and we lose by around 20 points.  considering that we hadn’t played together as a team before, we played pretty well.  im optimistic; things will only get better.

next up, textbooks.  oh the joy of scrounging for the cheapest possible textbook.  it turns out i got the wrong book list for religion, so i bought several unnecessary textbooks online.  luckily they were pretty cheap, so i can probably sell them off again.  the problem was, i didn’t have any religion textbooks!  so i went off to the campus book store and bought some overpriced books as i waited for my online orders to arrive.  return policies are my best friend!  oh yeah, and my best friends are also people who lend me their textbooks.  stephen, you rock dude.

young life is ever so wonderful.  tonight i’m gonna be heading out to forest hill northern high school to chaperone a dance.  that should be sweet.  i’m looking forward to seeing my buddies over there.  yesterday was a pretty wild young life event.  brian, phatty and i went to forest hill northern to watch a high school basketball game.  the huskies (FHN’s team name) have a record of 0-13, so they really had nothing to lose.  last time i was there, they lost by 1 point, so that really sucked.  well, in this game, they also lose by 1 point.  i’m surprised those kids are still trying after so many close losses.  i hope they win soon, they deserve it.  after the game, we had a leader’s night out at a local party house.  we were supposed to stay up all night, but i left early cuz i needed sleep.  i get sick easily when i lose sleep, and i didn’t want to mess up my sleeping schedule.  i’ve got homework to do, and waking up at 4 pm doesn’t help with time management!  phatty was a total sweetheart and drove me back.  if u read this, thanks a lot!  we had a blast anyway while we were at the party house.  roller skating (with old-school roller skates), laser tag, bowling (with no grease on the lanes of course), and some pool.  it was nice hanging out with other leaders in the area and getting to know them a bit.  of course, meeting new people means new names to remember, and i’m still struggling to recall some of them.  i hate it when that happens.

yes, and lastly, my new love.  we met at the campus bookstore as i was returning some textbooks and we totally clicked.  it was love at first sight.  i went over and bought it right away.  yes, it.  you see, bramble is a brown and white beanie baby bunny.  i love bunnies.  maybe it’s cuz i’m born in the year of the rabbit.  anyway, we also broke up the next day.  i discovered that she had a whole in her neck and some flaws in her fur.  it was sad, and i went back to return her.  maybe i’ll have better luck on valentines day…
