Marble Slabs with Ice Cream
big menu at marble slab creamery
what’s a creamery? i think the name alone convinced me to go there. maybe it’s a culture shock thing, but i’ve noticed stores like using curious names to attract customers. for instance, there’s a Chinese restaurant nearby called The Great Wall. now, i’m pretty sure the Great Wall is in China, on the other side of the world, but what if there really was another Great Wall? i have to find out sometime and go there. maybe there’s a mini-Great Wall or something.
for the first time in a couple of weeks i actually left campus on a friday night. and i didn’t leave alone. oh no. i think i brought a small village population with me. our eclectic mix of people was comprised of post-Sufjan-Stevens-concert attendees, floormates, and people we met on the way there.
so marble slab creamery, which is situated a few minutes south of calvin college’s campus in a new plaza, serves awesome ice cream, which you can top with anything. i had cake batter ice cream with gummy bears and marshmallows. it was amazingly hard to eat (gummy bears harden when cold and marshmallows become crispy), and i felt kinda sick afterwards. i’ll try a better combination next time, something like cheesecake ice cream with strawberry toppings… mmMMmmmMMmm!
oh yeah, one thing worth noting. marble slab creamery is located next to a MASSIVE store called Barstools and More. if you’re ever looking for barstools, or items related to barstools (why else would they call the store Barstools and More), that’s the place to go. someone should open a store called Pencils and More. with that kind of name, they could get away with selling anything from pencils to aircraft carriers.
