Camping at Niagra Falls
before boarding the maid of the mist
how lovely, a weekend retreat with some old friends from the dorm. i’d call it a lil dorm reunion. we headed out friday afternoon, with some of us taking part of the day off work, and arrived at our campsite late in the evening. then we setup our tents under the glare of our car headlights before reuniting with the other two cars. a total of 12 people camping by niagra falls guarantees a good time.
starting off with a very full car. food, tents, sleeping bags, etc.
we’re gonna limp our way to canada
sleeping in a tent on hard earth is surprisingly refreshing. waking up to fresh air is even better. how can i complain when i wake up to this?
beautiful stuff, so refreshing from the cityscape i’m used to
it’s been a while since i’ve gone camping. something like 10 years? in fact, it’s been so long i’ve forgotten how to setup a tent. so guess what i did?
i setup a tent
i learned about the maid of the mist from bruce almighty. it was fun getting on that boat and being so close to the falls. when i looked down, the water was a mass of swirling foam. when i looked up, i was surrounded by mist and lots of water. surprisingly, the boat was quite steady, and they gave me a free blue raincoat to wear. stylish!
having a snack while lining up for the boat
ahh, serenity
our campsite was next to one of the great lakes, and we spent lots of time on the beach looking at stars and exploring. after a week of hard work in a basement office, a lake never looked so good. oh yeah, we saw quite a few shooting stars too!

a weekend seemed a bit short, but it was great just to see all my friends. if i hadn’t seen them at niagra falls, i would’ve probably waited until september when school starts again. the whole trip started as just an idea that popped up during final exam week, but i’m so glad we followed through.
