the story of break: part two (whew)
Back to school after a second break (or the second half of break)... and it really is good to be back. The longer I stayed at home, the more I started thinking about those essays and projects that I really really (really) need to start working on. All the frustrations from my last entry are clearing up… That said, it was still great to be home.
Last Wednesday, I went to my classes and then my parents and I drove back home. Thursday we cleaned our house, and that night my younger sister and her boyfriend drove in. They had a brush with a semi-truck [yikes], but they were doing pretty well. So fun to see them both!
My older sister got in Friday night, just as we were dyeing eggs. (Pictures of that to follow in a day or so…) We all hung out together, cooked dinner, took a lot of pictures, laughed (a lot), and had a great time. There was a lot of basketball talk (confession: I have no idea what is going on with the whole playoff/March Madness/brackets thing. I just can’t keep up).
On Saturday, my sisters and I had a “photo shoot”—my mom asked a photographer to get a lot of pictures of the three of us together, especially because the senior photos of my older sister and me are pretty outdated. That was a blast—the three of us hammed it up on film.
On Easter morning, we all went to church, and it was great to sing the Easter hymns (all those Alleluias! It’s awesome!!) and to see everyone back home. Dad and I left right after lunch, and now… whew… I’m here.
So, kind of a whirlwind, but now it’s the push to the end: tests and papers and finals.
We’re getting to the really good stuff in my classes: starting to read Irving, Hawthorne, and Poe in American Lit. That’s awesome—it’s been awhile since I’ve read those guys. In Sociology, we’re working through the chapter on gender—that always brings up interesting stuff.
Well, I hope everyone else is safe after all the traveling… in one of my classes, I heard a story of a pretty bad accident—reminds me how much God has protected me and my family in all the days we’ve spent on the road. Wow.—jl
