The End of Break

The last few hours of Interim break.  If I thought I had been lazy over Interim… it just got worse over break!  Moving at all takes too much effort.  I really can’t believe that I can be so active and productive during the semester only to shut down entirely over break.  Ridiculous.

Well, I did make my first pumpkin pie—ever—yesterday morning.  So there’s proof that I’m not completely comatose.  And my crocheted scarf grows ever longer, thanks to TV movies.  So Interim break has been quiet, but good.

Now—literally, right now—people are coming back for spring semester.  One of my roommates is unloading her stuff, and the parking lot is filling up.  Hallways are getting noisier.  And tomorrow…class!!  That’ll be a shock to the system!  (Actually, I’m pretty pumped.  I need to get moving and working again.)

This should be a good batch of classes: American Lit 1, which features the oldies but goodies, like Hawthorne, Melville, Poe, and Emerson.  Poetry Writing, which is very daring of me—it applies to my writing minor, and I’m a little terrified, but I hear the prof is excellent.  Intro to Sociology, which actually applies to my writing minor as well—I figure I’ll write better if I know what people act like.  Go figure.  Intro to Organ—after years of piano lessons, I’m moving on up!  And finally, an off-site internship with a publishing house.  Wow.  Can you see why I’m excited…and petrified?  This is 0-60, Calvin style.  –jl
