so far, so fabulous (5,168 words)

Day #2 of Nanowrimo... (Skipping Sundays, remember.)
Words today (so far): 2,846.
Mood/status: euphoric.
Today’s NaNo survival trick?

(That would be caffeine. Worked pretty well on Saturday, too.)

And so, Nanowrimo is off to a fantastic start. My outline started strong—I have more than enough to work from. The characters are hitting their cues or are improvising brilliantly (thanks to many mugs of coffee, I’m sure). My protagonist is funnier today than I knew she could be.

I did, indeed, begin Saturday just after midnight, curled up in bed with a pad of paper and pen. (I’m old fashioned enough to neither have nor want a laptop… I like the scritching sound of my pen just fine.) I finished the rest of my word quota after I woke up, and then had another good day today.

So I’m encouraged! No regrets! Nanowrimo 2008 will be wonderful. Tomorrow’s a bit busier—more errands, a citizenly visit to the polls, a meeting in the afternoon to talk about—what else?—writing (with more coffee, of course). And then probably watching the states color themselves red and blue on the news.

Although, to be honest, watching the election results may be more than I can stomach. I’ll probably flee back to my characters…—jl
