on the road… again…

So much for peace and relaxation!  Ha ha ha.  Tomorrow morning, my mom and I head up to Chicago for the Write-to-Publish conference.  This is her third time attending… and my first!

It’s going to be exciting.  I’m lucky, because I’m going as a writer and as a soon-to-be editor (hopefully).  In other words, I’ll be able to pick up tips on writing, but I’ll also brush elbows with all kinds of book editors.  I’m also bringing a sample of my poetry, and I’ll get to meet one-on-one with an editor of a magazine and see if she’s interested in them.  (Still trying to get my courage up for that…)

I feel very official.  Mom told me that everyone brings business cards.  So… now I have business cards!  Makes me laugh, because I still feel like I’m in fifth grade—why should anyone take me seriously?  But, I have published an article, I have edited full-length book manuscripts… so why not have business cards?

Whatever.  I can spare you the rest of my insecurities, but anyway: I’m very excited about the conference.  I’ll learn a lot!!
