Mob-less Organ and Dreams of Italy…
The semester is starting to pick up… I had my first organ lesson yesterday, and it really is a completely different world from the piano. My teacher is sweet and friendly; we’ll get along well. Today I spent an hour and a half in a practice room making a lot of noise. Organs are so LOUD. I kept checking behind me to see if I had an angry mob outside my practice room. The mob never showed, so I kept pulling stop after stop. Playing with my feet is the best ever, especially the lowest notes. This is going to be awesome.
Today I also had a chance to catch up with a friend from freshman year. We had the same Intro to Psych class (inspiring her to become a psychology major, by the way. I loved the class too, but I’m still sold on English). Anyway, we hadn’t really had a chance to talk in over a year. Crazy. So she took me to her house—off-campus, but not far—and we had lunch together. I got to hear all about her Interim in Italy a year ago, (I am so doing that next January!!) and about her sister’s wedding, and her internship with a school psychologist. So great to talk with her. We can’t believe it’s been over a year, but I was off to England last spring, and last fall was just so busy… Life happens. Anyway, it was great to see her again.
Last big news: I got my first internship assignment today. Unbelievable. I get to copyedit an entire manuscript in two weeks. I can’t wait to get started! –jl
