it’s good to be mobile
It’s officially interim break, after Tuesday’s grammar final and badminton tournament. Whew! I’m exhausted! It’s a good thing it’s break, because I need to kick back for awhile… even the start of break has been stressful! So much to do before the next semester starts. I did get to see my parents for one day—too short!—and they left me with a car, so that’s exciting. For the first time at Calvin, I have wheels!
I spent yesterday and today running errands with my roommate. She leaves bright and early (well, dark and early) for Washington D.C. tomorrow. And as she is car-less and I am car-full (?), we’ve spent the last two days running around Grand Rapids. It’s good to hang out with her a bit, though, even if it’s with our mutual to-do lists.
I am horribly envious of her getting on a plane tomorrow. Much as I am excited about this next (and last) semester, I would love to be flying somewhere. Last week I was pricing flights to India and cruises in the Indo-Pacific area. How about a world cruise? Just 126 days of boating and visiting… the travel bug never really goes away, I think. Two years ago I left for England, and I still want to be going places!
Two of my good friends spent the night last week. My first Calvin slumber party! (How have I waited this long?) These girls are the salt of the earth, and we spent hours talking about good books and good travel. Sarah had just flown in from Oregon, so she had pictures and stories to share. It was so nice to see her and Jen again. We talked until three a.m. and then woke late for a leisurely breakfast. So nice. And of course, there was an emergency run to a bookstore…
Sarah’s coming back tonight, staying over for a wedding tomorrow. I’m so glad to see her. We go back to Day One of my Calvin time, so we have a lot of memories together. I don’t think I’ll be getting to bed early… even though I’m driving to the airport at five a.m.!—jl
