a funny thing happened…
Sooo, just got back from seeing Calvin’s production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. I grew up hearing (and singing) the song “Comedy Tonight,” but I hadn’t seen a version of the musical until tonight (and it was a comedy… so I saw a comedy… tonight…). Everyone promised it would be funny, and as soon as I saw “Rappelling Coach” listed as one of the crew, I knew it would be a blast.
I went with Maria, and both of us laughed our heads off throughout the performance. I’m amazed at how many fabulous actors we have at Calvin!! Pseudolus was played by the same student who played Richard III in January. He made me laugh a lot tonight, even though he scared me to death as Richard just a few months ago…
Anyway, I haven’t seen a musical (especially a live one) in ages, and it was a light-hearted way to end a week! Tomorrow I need to hit the books (three essays due next Friday… yikes!), so it was good to goof off tonight. —jl
