is it vocation or vacation?
In the middle of an extremely minor identity crisis.
I’m starting to wonder about things that I never wondered when I was a student. Students don’t have identity crises, do they? They all know who they are, especially as they’re surrounded by more of the same.
A rough job description: Students study, they take classes, take notes until their penmanship is shot; they schlep books around, they drink too much coffee, they occasionally procrastinate, they watch movies on the weekends, they watch movies when they should be studying, they eat entirely too much ramen. They wear what’s comfortable, they have meaningful discussions about politics and social justice until one a.m., and they check email incessantly. Fair enough?

hanging out with a different crowd
Last night I went to a concert at a nearby church--bringing back fabulous Calvin memories of concerts in the Fine Arts Center. And this time, while it was quality music, I was definitely on the younger end of the audience! Actually, I should qualify that: there were some junior high and high school kids, but all of the college kids are… at college. Of course.
But as my parents are fabulous company, we still had a good time. Michael Card, a name I grew up with, was the main singer. His music is easy to listen to, and much of it was familiar. But I especially enjoyed listening to Andrew Peterson… any Peterson fans out there?

twenty-two years of wisdom are in this entry
Does anyone ever feel their age? Please let me know if you are one of those people who magically think on your birthday, “A ha!! I do feel older.” Because I don’t. Yesterday I turned twenty-two, and I don’t feel much older than I did when I was eleven. Still, it’s impressive--halfway to forty-four!! And one-third the way to sixty-six, a birthday that I’m planning to spend in Paris. (Actually, a year that I’m planning to spend in Paris...)
