get out your advent calendars
Guess what, everyone! We now have less than six months till Christmas! Let the countdown begin. Start stocking up on your candy canes, gift wrap, tinsel, and paper snowflake patterns. (We already have a wreath up. I’m not kidding.) I’m looking forward to spending this holiday season with my family, helping put up the tree and rolling out sugar cookies, whipping up gingerbread and curling ribbon. Hey, I even finished knitting that red scarf that I started, oh, last September.

i’ve got rhythm—no, wait…
Back again! I spent last week at Wheaton College, for the Write-to-Publish conference. Mom and I came back on Sunday, exhausted but inspired. I feel like I learned so much, and now I want to read absolutely anything that’s good (so let me know if you have must-read suggestions). I also want to apply all the good advice I heard, and kick my writing into high-gear. So the summer begins!
Our table at the conference banquet: there’s Mom and me on the right!

in the year of the BA: day 16
Welcome to my first post as a graduate! I feel ... no different. Kind of like after a birthday, when you’ve just turned seven, and all your relatives are asking: Don’t you feel so old now? And you think real hard and realize: no, not even a little bit. It’s like that. I think that I’m still expecting to go back to school at the beginning of September. It’s so hard to realize that I’m done, as in: done. But I am, and I have my—er—diploma cover to prove it! (I think they’re mailing the diplomas soon… probably after I pay my print services bill, eh?)
