Super Bowl Weekend! Go GIANTS!

Finally after four classes on Friday, it was the weekend. My first week of second semester has gone well so far. I have a much different schedule this semester than I did last semester. Last semester I had a lot of reading and writing courses in taking Philosophy, English, and History. However, this semester I do not have as many reading and writing courses. Geology requires some reading, but I am excited to take my first lab at Calvin. Also, with Stats, I will be doing problems every night rather than writing. Needless to say I was ready for the weekend. After classes on Friday, I worked out with some of the guys on the soccer team. Since we are not in regular season, we have to stay in shape somehow. After the workout I met up with some friends for dinner. After dinner, we decided to go see a movie. We went to go see Strange Wilderness. I did not know very much about the movie, I just knew that some of my friends wanted to go see it and so I tagged along. The movie had some funny parts, but it was not a very good movie. After the movie, I came back to Calvin and hung around talking with friends. I did not get to bed till sometime after 3 o’clock. It was nice to just hang around and blow some steam off from the first week back to school.

I was so tired from Friday night that I did not get up till about noon. Saturday was just another relaxing day. I hate leaving all of my homework until Sunday so I spent some time Saturday afternoon getting some of it done. After doing some homework, I went and got some exercise in. I have found that I can focus much better on my homework if I get out and get some physical activity. After getting a good workout, I ate dinner and headed over to Bolt to play some video games. Call of Duty 4 is a very popular game on campus right now. I think pretty much any guy floor I walk on campus, I can hear that game being played. We played Call of Duty for a while just rotating teams in. It was a lot of fun and I have slowly gotten better. I have never been much of a gamer, and I still am not. However, it was still a lot of fun just playing in general. After we got sick of video games, a big group of us went to watch the hockey game. The last hockey game I went to was the Hope game and that was a great game, even though we did not win. When I got to the game we were losing 4-1. However, the game got pretty interesting as Calvin came close to tying it up. We pulled the goalie a couple times to try and get a goal and they just could not do it. After the game a big group of us went out to eat at Uccello’s. We ordered a bunch of pizzas and that is when I managed to embarrass myself in front of everyone. I was trying to cut the pizza and pass it out to someone as the flimsy tray fell on the floor. I got pizza all over myself as well as over my friend’s purse. I felt so bad, but it was hard not to laugh at the same time. We got her purse all cleaned off, but people were still laughing. I know they are not going to let me forget that incident for a while.
On Sunday I went to Mars Hill Church. It was an interesting Sunday, as we heard a woman’s testimony that lived in England. Her testimony was amazing to hear. After Church, My friend Ally had a group of us over to her house for a home cooked meal. Some of my friends, Ben, Grace, Henry, and Joe all came. The meal was so good as she made us steak and potatoes. It is so nice to get a home cooked meal every once in a while. After the meal, I went back to campus to do some homework. After doing some homework, I was ready to watch the Super Bowl. I love watching the Super Bowl no matter who plays because there are always great commercials. In recent years, I have been let down by some of the same commercials. This year I thought there were some decent commercials, but I still felt like there could have been some better ones. This year’s Super Bowl was a great game. Last year I was happy that Peyton Manning finally got his ring. This year I wanted the Giants to win so badly. I was so sick of hearing all the talk for the past two weeks about how the Giants were going to get beat. I just wanted the game to be played. The Giants played an unbelievable game. I was so happy that Eli Manning also got his ring. Now it is back into the weekly schedule where I will always be looking forward to the weekends.
