Easter Weekend
Having a short week and a long weekend was a really nice transition back to school after the much anticipated Spring Break. Unfortunately, I did not get to see my whole family over Spring Break as I went down to Florida. I actually only saw my family for about an hour on way through Ohio, so I was definitely ready to be home and spend the weekend with my family. After classes on Thursday, my friend Ben and I headed back home after our classes were done for the week. It was going to be a great weekend as I would be relaxing, eating, visiting with friends and family, and watching college basketball.
When I got home Thursday night, I spent most of the night watching the first round of the NCAA tournament. It was so relaxing to be in the comfort of my own home again in my own family room. Pretty much for all of Thursday night and most of Friday I sat around watching college basketball games. I just cannot get enough of it because every game is so intense and anything could happen. So far in the tournament there has been some crazy upsets and I am sure there are still a few more to come. On Friday, I took a break in the day to do some things around the house. My older brother Mike and I gave my dog Joey a bath. He does not like water very much so it takes both of us to bathe him. I had to get in the tub and hold him so that he would not go crazy when my brother sprayed him. After the bath, we went back to watching college basketball. Friday night some of my friends came over to watch the games. None of my good friends from high school went to the same college so we always try to get together as much as possible when we are back in town. We just hung out, watched the games, played Rockband, and played some cards. It was a good time to catch up and see how everyone else is doing.
Saturday was a pretty busy day. My older brother Mike, younger sister Nicole, and I went to meet my grandparents for breakfast. We ate at Bob Evans and got to spend some quality time together. After breakfast, I went to the mall with my friend Jen from home. She went with me to pick out a tux for a dance after school ends. After doing some shopping around, I went home to see the rest of my family. My mom and younger brother Steve had been in St. Louis since Thursday for a soccer tournament. I had just missed them when they left on Thursday and I was really excited to finally see them. We went out to eat together at Rocknies. After dinner, we came home and watched a family movie.
On Easter Sunday, we got up early and went to the early service. We have a family tradition every Easter that we go to Church and after Church we go to brunch with our good friends, the Allwes family. I have known them almost since I was born and we used to be next door neighbors. They have two children that are similar in age to my older brother and we have been very good friends as we have all grown up. After the Church service, we went to the Sheraton Hotel where we have brunch at the Piatto Novo.
It is always such good food and you can eat as much as you want. I usually start off with breakfast and then eat a little bit of lunch and then close it all out with a couple pieces of pie and cheesecake. Everything was good as usual.
After brunch my two brothers and I played some basketball. It was pretty cold outside, but we really wanted to play so we played for a couple of hours. After basketball we watched another family movie, I Am Legend. That was a great movie and I definitely recommend seeing it. After the movie, it was time for me to head back to Calvin. I was really not too happy about having to come back since that means I had to travel back on Easter Sunday and cut the family time short. However, I had a great time being with my family and friends and that is what matters. Now that we have had all these breaks from school, it is time to sit in and start focusing on school again.
