Hi, My Name Is What? My Name Is Who? My Name Is…

Hey everybody! My name is Phil and I’m an Orientation Intern for Calvin College this year. I’m in my senior year here and I’m majoring in Communication Rhetoric. I was born and raised in the good ol’ G-Rap, so I’m very familiar with the city. I love it here at Calvin and can hardly believe I’m only going to be around for one more year. However, I’m very excited to be involved with Orientation this summer and am eager to meet many of you at Passport and Quest. The past two years here at Calvin I’ve been an RA in Beets-Veenstra (best dorm on campus, baby!) The dorm is actually getting renovated this summer so it’s going to be bigger and better than ever by the time you all arrive in the fall. I’m very passionate about dorm life and can testify first-hand that Calvin works very hard to make your time in the dorms one of the best experiences of your life. I’ve also been very involved with the music scene here at Calvin too. I’ve played in the Calvin Orchestra all three years and have been a member of the Calvin Gospel Choir the past two years (we actually just went on tour to Los Angeles for Spring Break this year). I’ve also jammed and performed at various venues here at Calvin with a few of the musician buddies I’ve made in college. This year I plan to join the Ultimate Frisbee team in the Fall and become more involved in Chapel worship services. I also hope to go to Italy for Interim and participate in the Chicago Semester that Calvin sponsors in the Spring. I hope that you are all as excited as I am about preparing for the best years of your life here at Calvin College.
