August 4 - Software Updates

The following software updates will be released by CIT on Wednesday, August 4.

Target Audiences
Faculty and staff workstations
Smart Classrooms

Windows Systems
Windows updates will be installed silently and automatically. If a reboot is required after installation you will receive a message in a pop-up window. You will be allowed to postpone the reboot for up to 24 hours after the updates are installed. If the machine is not rebooted within the 24 hours the system will reboot automatically. If you want to verify if these updates were installed you can go to your Add/Remove Programs control panel and check for the patches listed below.

Windows updates to be included:
iPrint client 5.42
Novell client 2 SP1 IR2
ZCM agent 10.3


Macintosh Systems
Users on Macintosh systems will be prompted to install patches. You will have 14 days to begin installation. If a reboot is required you will have 5 minutes after installation completes to reboot your system or it will reboot automatically. Patches listed with a triangle next to them indicate that a system reboot is required. 

Macintosh patches to be included:
Acrobat Pro 9.3.3
Acrobat Reader 9.3.3
Acrobat Pro 8.2.3
Firefox 3.6.8

September 29 - ZCM Update

CIT will be releasing at update to the ZCM desktop agent on Wednesday, Sept. 29 to all faculty and staff Windows workstations.

ZCM (a.k.a. ZENworks) is used as the primary desktop management system for our Windows workstations. This update will deliver ZCM 10.3, which includes a number of bug fixes, security patches, and performance enhancements. It is a prerequisite for additional updates being planned.

CIT Comments:
This software is being deployed out of our regularly scheduled maintenance window due to an exploit currently being active.  This Java security update patches the vulnerability.
