Response to “Waiting”
Evan brought up a good point in his journal called “Waiting”. I never really thought about the fact that we do wait a lot. It’s very mind boggling that we wait seven years out of our life in line. That’s crazy. I would call myself a patient person, so I don’t really mind waiting in line very often. Sometimes I will admit that it does get quite annoying. “Why can’t people just move quickly?!” I think to myself. “Waiting”, most people hate that word. It has a bad connotation. As Americans in a fast paced world, we want things now, right away.
Like Evan said, if we didn’t have to wait for things, what would we have to look forward to? Nothing. Waiting brings up another point I think. We are always thinking about what is going to happen, and what we want to happen. We wait for the day that we will get married, we wait for the day in which we graduate from college, we wait for the day in which we have children, we wait for the day in which we start our own career, and we wait for many things. Along with the wait comes some worry. “Will I ever meet that significant other?” “Will I ever finish school?” All these things bring some worry.
This is when we have to leave it to God. God says, “Do not worry about tomorrow, what you might wear, what you might eat, or what you might drink. Worry about the present and let God take care of the rest.” I tell myself this very often. So, waiting might be a burden and an annoyance, but do think of it as a hindrance, think of it as God’s plan? Maybe a little stretch, but hey, it’s worth the thought.
