Descriptive Writing: Evan

In the back and forth battle between winter and summer, winter looks to be the victor today. After the warm, muddy spring thaw of yesterday, the snow has a lot of ground to reclaim.  In a matter of minutes, the light but constant snow transforms the land from an ungly brown to a pure white.  Everything is lightly powdered and frigidly cold.

This temporary setback to the unstoppable onslaught of summer is not enough to hide the dull lifelessness under the thin veil of snow.  Dark, naked trees jut out from the ground reminding everyone that they should be covered in lush, green leaves.  The few blades of grass that poke out of the snow are a sickly yellow and simply beg for warmer temperatures and some liquid water for a change.  The few passers by that can be seen hurrying off to their next class also have the same gloom about them.  They are smothered in warm clothing and there isn’t a smile in view.  It is time for summer.
