Employer comment on choosing a major….
With input too lengthy for the comment section, a local employer emailed me directly with her perspective on choosing a major. Read on for her sage advice….
Ok Aunt Bonnie…in your picture you are eating a cookie. It looks like choc
chip..but looks can be deceiving. Maybe it is raisin, and maybe you
didn’t even eat it. That is like the choice of a major/career change/job
openings. You can choose choc chip or raisin, just like business or
education. And you can choose a job, just like the choice to eat the
cookie or not.
My advice to those that wake up in the morning: If you
don’t choose to make a decision, then you cannot take a risk. If you
don’t take a risk, then you limit your future success. I would rather
hire an individual who makes a decision, takes the risk and fails, than
to hire someone who just sits there with no desire to aspire. The one
that fails, will pick themselves up again, make another decision, take
the risk, and reward will follow. I think Bill Gates would agree, don’t
