DeDe Orlando '11 majored in elementary education and special education.

Everybody remembers that special teacher—you know, the one who inspires you to this day? The one who was hard on you at times because he or she cared enough to push you to achieve your goals? Calvin’s teacher education program can help you become that kind of teacher.

In 2010–11, Calvin teacher education student DeDe Orlando was selected as Michigan’s Student Teacher of the Year. Now she has her own classroom, teaching first grade at Swansfield Elementary School in Columbia, Md.

Ninety-eight percent of 2010 Calvin teacher education graduates were employed within one year of graduation (102 grads).


Calvin's pass rate for the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification is consistently in the top five for all colleges and universities in the state.
