Course Description
The First Year Prelude Program begins in the fall semester and introduces students to Calvin College as a Christian community of inquiry. The course is a preparatory and integral component of IDIS W50 (Developing a Christian Mind) and serves as a prerequisite to the Cross-Cultural Engagement (CCE) core requirement.
Prelude is designed as a one semester-hour course that all first year students will take during their first semester. Prelude provides students with a rudimentary introduction to several important aspects of Calvin's reformed identity through a common intellectual experience. Specifically, this course helps establish a common vocabulary for the terms Responsible Freedom, Cultural Discernment, Cross-Cultural Engagement, and Vocation.
