Event Poster Policy

1. Students/Departments/Organizations may drop off posters in the Student Development Office to be approved for posting. Posters dropped off by 5:00 p.m. will be stamped and available for pick up (pending approval) by 10:30 a.m. the follow day. All notices and posters must be approved and stamped at the Student Development Office located in the Commons Annex.

2. Bulletin boards are intended for use by student organizations and college departments. Posters concerning off-campus events or private profit-making operations are generally not permitted, except by prior permission from the Dean of Student Development.

3. All posters eligible for approval will need to include the name of the sponsoring organization or department, in order to clarify exactly which student organizations or departments are sponsoring campus events.

4. Posters in residence halls and apartment lobbies concerning Residence Life events may be on both bulletin boards and brick work, and need not be approved and stamped.

5. Posters will be stamped for a period of no more than 30 days.

6. No posters on campus may ever appear on glass doors or windows, with the exception of same day announcements of campus emergencies, or urgent announcements from the Student Life Division.

7. Posters may be posted on BULLETIN BOARDS ONLY. The following is a list of places where these bulletin boards are accessible:
a. Residence Hall and apartment lobbies,
b. Knollcrest, Commons, and Uppercrust dining halls, Johnny's Café and Cave entrances,
c. The hallways of Hiemenga Hall, Spoelhof College Center, Fine Arts Center, Physical Education Building, North Hall, and the Science Building.

8. Student Senate encourages all organizations and committees to use no more than 50 posters per event. Also, we urge organizations and committees to use the copy center whenever possible.

9. Posters should be no larger than 11” x 17”.

10. College employees may post articles and announcements outside of their offices or on their office doors. These articles/announcements do not need to be stamped.

11. Academic departments may set their own policies for bulletin boards in their departments.

12. Only one (1) stamped poster per organization or committee will be allowed on each bulletin board.

13. Exemptions to the poster policy, as described above, may be obtained in special situations from the Dean of Student Development.

14. BUILDING MAINTENANCE, FACULTY, AND OTHER STAFF MEMBERS WILL ENFORCE THE POLICIES REGARDING PLACEMENT OF ALL POSTERS REGARDLESS OF THE ORGANIZATION OR COMMITTEE ORIGIN.
