Calvin's Mark Recker Picks Up Win #100

With a 2-0 victory over Alma College this afternoon, the Calvin women's soccer team continued an unbeaten streak of eight games and a seven-game win streak, upping its record to 9-3-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the MIAA. head coachBut even more impressive than the young team's records is that of its head coach, Mark Recker. This afternoon's win was the 100th career win for Recker as head coach, making him the winningest coach in Calvin women's soccer history. Recker's seven-year career record now stands at 100-27-9.

Two first-half goals were enough to seal the victory for the Knights. The first came from freshman Carly Prins (Hudsonville/Unity Christian) and was her ninth goal of the season. Just before the half ended, Calvin took another goal as freshman Stephanie Malburg (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern) made good on a perfect header from sophomore Emily Ottenhoff (Palos Heights, IL/Chicago Christian).
ReckerAndTeamSophomore goalkeepers Alyssa Bergsma (Walker/Calvin Christian) and Kayla Sulzer (St.Charles, MO/Whitfield) combined for the Knights' sixth shut-out of the season.
