Calvin Soccer Players Receive MIAA Defensive Player of the Week Honors

A pair of Calvin soccer players have received MIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors as senior goalkeeper Darrin Cline has been named the MIAA Men’s Defensive Player of the Week while junior midfielder Allison Boender has been named the MIAA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Calvin Men’s Golf Fifth at MIAA Tournament - Remains Fifth in Overall League Standings

ANGOLA, IN – The Calvin men’s golf team tied for fifth place at an MIAA outing hosted by Trine University Saturday afternoon at the Zollner Golf Club.
Calvin tied for fifth place with Alma with a score of 309 strokes, two strokes behind fourth place Albion. Host Trine took first place with a team score of 291 strokes with Hope close behind at 292 and Olivet third at 293.

Heethuis Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer Team To Win at Alma

ALMA – Calvin remained unbeaten in MIAA play and stretched its win streak to three games with a 1-0 victory at Alma Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Brad Heethuis (Jenison/Unity Christian HS) came off the bench to score the game’s only goal, popping in a pass from former high school teammate Scott Hooker (Hudsonville/Unity Christian HS) with 21 minutes left in regulation.

Volleyball Splits Pair of MIAA Matches at Home

Calvin split a pair of matches in Saturday’s MIAA triangular match at the Huizenga Track and Tennis Center. The Knights swept fourth place Saint Mary’s in three games and fell in a five game thriller to sixth place Adrian. Calvin moves to 5-2 in league play and 11-4 overall.

Women’s Cross Country Team Ranked Number-One/Men’s Ranked Second

National Rankings

For the first time since 1999, the Calvin women’s cross country team has been ranked number-one in the Division III Top 25 poll released by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Knights are ranked number-one in this week’s poll, up one spot from last week’s spot. The Knights have overtaken last year’s national champion – Amherst (MA) – which had held onto the top spot since last year’s preseason poll.

GRAND RAPIDS—After an early season scoring drought, Calvin’s offense clicked into high gear in the second half of the Knights’ conference opener against Albion Wednesday. Calvin scored twice in the second half against a stingy Briton defense to notch a 2-0 win at Zuidema Field.
