Men’s Tennis Defeats Wheaton To Remain Unbeaten

Calvin improved to 3-0 on the year with a 9-0 win over Wheaton College Friday night inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. Ranked 11th in the ITA Division III Central Region rankings. Calvin returns to action next Monday when it faces Augusta (SD) in a match scheduled to be played in Orlando, FL.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—A national championship performance by senior Erica Deur propelled the Calvin women’s swimming and diving team into fifth place in the team standings at the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships Friday night at the University of Minnesota.

Women’s Swimming & Diving Picks Up All-America Relay Performances on Day Two of NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—The Calvin women’s swimming and diving team remains in the top 10 after two days of competition at the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota. On Thursday, the Knights received All-America performances from its 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams as both teams placed eighth. With two days left to go in the four-day meet, the Knights are in seventh place with 80 points, two points ahead of eighth place Wisconsin-LaCrosse and four points behind sixth place Claremont-Mudd Scripps.

Deur National Runner-Up On Three-Meter Board - Calvin In 7th Place After Day One of NCAAs

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—A national runner-up performance by senior Erica Deur pushed the Calvin women’s swimming and diving team into seventh place after day one of the four-day NCAA III Championships held at the University of Minnesota.

A graduate of Holland Christian High School, Deur placed second in the three-meter diving competition with a score of 495.85 points. The finish is the second national runner-up berth by Deur on the three-meter board as she also accomplished the feat at the 2007 national meet.Deur was also the national runner-up on the one-meter board in 2006. Deur has now claimed seven All-America berths in diving—four on the three-meter board and three on the one-meter board. She will compete on the one-meter board on Friday.

Women’s Swimming & Diving Team Ranked Eighth - Men Receive Votes in Final Top 25 poll of the Year

The final Division III Top 25 poll of the year conducted by Collegeswimming.com has been released and the Calvin women’s team has finished eighth. Under the direction of head coach Dan Gelderloos, the Knights captured their fifth consecutive MIAA title this year and are sending 11 individuals to this week’s NCAA III Championships in Minneapolis. The Knights will be bidding for fifth consecutive top 10 national finish.

The Calvin women’s swimming and diving team will send 11 individuals to this week’s NCAA III Championships scheduled to be held at the University of Minnesota. The Calvin sports information department caught up with three of those individuals - Cara VanWoerkom, Maggie Vail and Julie Wolfe - for audio interviews.

Baseball Drops Two at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, OH—Calvin was unable to hold on to a pair of late-inning leads and in the process dropped both ends of a season-opening doubleheader at Otterbein College Saturday afternoon. In the opener, Calvin carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth but the host Cardinals (3-0) scored twice in the bottom of the sixth and held Calvin scoreless in the top of the seventh to gain a 2-1 win.

In game two, Calvin led 7-3 heading into the top of the seventh but Otterbein struck back with four runs to tie the game and then won the game 8-7 on a walk and a double in the bottom of the eighth.

Women’s Track Ties for 10th at NCAA Indoor Championships - Men 32nd

TERRE HAUTE, IN—The first-ever trip to the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships for the Calvin men’s and women’s track and field teams produced four All-America performances and a top-10 national finish.
