MEMPHIS, TN—The Calvin College men’s and women’s track and field teams turned in a number of NCAA III provisional qualifying performances on Saturday at the Rhodes College Open despite competing in a steady rain throughout the meet.
Deur Named National Diver of the Year - Paskvan Named Women’s Diving Coach of the Year

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – For the second time in three years, Calvin College senior Erica Deur has been named the Division III Women’s Diver of the Year by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
The award was announced late Saturday night at the conclusion of the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota. In addition, Calvin diving coach Aaron Paskvan has been named Division III Women’s Diving Coach of the Year. It also marks the second time in three years that he has received the honor.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—The Calvin women’s swimming and diving team closed out its fifth consecutive top-10 national finish on Saturday at the NCAA III Championships, finishing seventh with a final team score of 171 points.

Calvin improved to 3-0 on the year with a 9-0 win over Wheaton College Friday night inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. Ranked 11th in the ITA Division III Central Region rankings. Calvin returns to action next Monday when it faces Augusta (SD) in a match scheduled to be played in Orlando, FL.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—The Calvin women’s swimming and diving team remains in the top 10 after two days of competition at the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota. On Thursday, the Knights received All-America performances from its 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams as both teams placed eighth. With two days left to go in the four-day meet, the Knights are in seventh place with 80 points, two points ahead of eighth place Wisconsin-LaCrosse and four points behind sixth place Claremont-Mudd Scripps.

Deur National Runner-Up On Three-Meter Board - Calvin In 7th Place After Day One of NCAAs

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—A national runner-up performance by senior Erica Deur pushed the Calvin women’s swimming and diving team into seventh place after day one of the four-day NCAA III Championships held at the University of Minnesota.
A graduate of Holland Christian High School, Deur placed second in the three-meter diving competition with a score of 495.85 points. The finish is the second national runner-up berth by Deur on the three-meter board as she also accomplished the feat at the 2007 national meet.Deur was also the national runner-up on the one-meter board in 2006. Deur has now claimed seven All-America berths in diving—four on the three-meter board and three on the one-meter board. She will compete on the one-meter board on Friday.

The final Division III Top 25 poll of the year conducted by Collegeswimming.com has been released and the Calvin women’s team has finished eighth. Under the direction of head coach Dan Gelderloos, the Knights captured their fifth consecutive MIAA title this year and are sending 11 individuals to this week’s NCAA III Championships in Minneapolis. The Knights will be bidding for fifth consecutive top 10 national finish.
