Women’s Tennis Splits Pair of Matches at MIAA Tournament

KALAMAZOO - Calvin closed out its season by splitting a pair of matches at the MIAA Tournament hosted by Kalamazoo College. Calvin opened the tournament with a 5-4 first round loss to Saint Mary’s. The Knights then defeated Adrian 5-0 in the back draw of the tournament. Calvin finishes its season with an overall record of 9-11.

In the loss to Saint Mary’s, the Belles took a 2-1 lead after doubles play and closed the match out with wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles including a three-set win at No. 5 singles that included a second-set tie-breaker. Calvin’s points came from seniors Kaitlin Spoelhof and Melissa Oosterhouse at No. 1 doubles, Oosterhouse at No. 1 singles, Spoelhof at No. 2 singles and senior Michelle Busscher at No. 3 singles.

Against Adrian, Calvin swept the three doubles points and closed out the match with a win from Oosterhouse at No 1 singles and Busscher at No. 3 singles.
