ORLANDO, FL - The Calvin women’s tennis team suffered another close defeat to a regionally-ranked opponent, falling 5-4 to Luther College of Iowa Friday afternoon.

Luther took a 2-1 lead through doubles with Calvin’s lone doubles point coming from seniors Melissa Oosterhouse and Kaitlin Spoelhof at No. 1 doubles. Calvin again swept the top three singles flights with Oosterhouse winning at No. 1 singles, Spoelhof at No. 2 singles and senior Michelle Busscher at No. 3 singles but Luther was able to grab the remaining three singles points to hold on for the win.

Calvin (3-6) returns to action next Tuesday when it hosts Kalamazoo College at 4 p.m. in the MIAA opener for both schools.
