Women’s Tennis Falls 7-2 at GVSU In Meeting of Nationally-Ranked Teams

ALLENDALE—The Calvin women’s tennis team dropped to 13-3 overall with a 7-2 loss at Division II Grand Valley State University Friday afternoon. Friday’s match featured a pair of nationally-ranked teams as Grand Valley State entered the match ranked 31st in the latest ITA Division II National Rankings while Calvin came in ranked 30th in the most recent ITA Division III National Rankings.

Calvin picked up a point at No. 3 doubles with seniors Elisabeth Geenen (Holland Christian HS) and Rachel DeGroot (Lombard, IL) picking up an 8-2 win. In singles play, junior Melissa Oosterhouse (Grand Rapdis Christian HS) rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles to improve to 18-1 in singles play.

Calvin returns to action next Wednesday when it hosts Albion at 4 p.m.
