Calvin dropped a hard-fought 5-4 non-conference decision to Aquinas Tuesday afternoon at the Riverview Racquet Club. The Knights are now 2-3 on the year.

Aquinas took a 2-1 lead through doubles play, winning 8-6 decisions at No. 1 and No.3 doubles while Calvin’s No. 2 doubles tandem of seniors Jordan Ipema (Kalamazoo/Kalamazoo Christian HS) and Elise Doezema (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) claimed an 8-4 victory.

Calvin’s singles points came from sophomore Megan Visser (Kalamazoo/Kalamazoo Christian HS) at No. 1 singles, junior Bethany Zoerhof (Holland/Holland Christian HS) at No. 4 singles and sophomore Samantha Reitsma (Grand Rapids/Northpointe Christian HS) at No. 5 singles.

Calvin is back in action on March 18 when it takes on the University of Puget Sound in Orlando, Florida. The match will be the first for Calvin on its spring break trip.
