Women’s Swimming and Diving Claims 800 Freestyle Relay Victory at MIAA Championships

The Calvin women’s swimming and diving team got off to a winning start on Wednesday night at the MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships, winning the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:42.39, finishing a second-and-a-half ahead of second place Hope.

Calvin’s relay team consisted of juniors Erika Waugh, Kathryn Wrobel and Alex Dhaenens and senior Margaret Rechel.

The first place performance bumps Calvin into the early lead in the team standings with 40 points.

Action continues on Thursday with prelims set for 10 a.m. and finals slated for 5:30 p.m. inside Calvin’s Venema Aquatic Center.
