NOTRE DAME, IN - The Calvin women’s soccer team could not find the back of the net on Wednesday in a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Saint Mary’s College. Saint Mary’s goalkeeper Chanler Rosenbaum played a large role in keeping the Knights off the board.

Calvin held a 21-9 shots at goal advantage and put 13 shots on frame but Rosenbaum was able to turn away all 13 shots including a pair of big-time saves in the closing minutes of regulation time as the Knights pressed for the go-ahead goal.

Calvin moves to 4-1-1 overall with the tie including 1-1-1 in conference play.  Saint Mary’s is 2-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the league.

Calvin had three shots on goal inside the final 10 minutes of play - the first by freshman Kailey Jo (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) and the last two by senior Kelly Koets (Grandville/Calvin Christian HS) but the Knights could not put a shot past Rosebaum who was able to deflect one dipping shot just over the crossbar and push another just wide of the far post.

Calvin then outshot the Belles 7-0 in the two 10-minute overtime sessions but again could not score.

Calvin held a 21-9 shots at goal advantage overall.  Senior Ashton Hearn (Port Huron/Port Huron Nothern HS) had four saves in nets for the Knights to also post a clean sheet.

Calvin is back in action on Saturday at noon when it hosts the Britons of Albion at Zuidema Field.
