Women’s Soccer Claims 1-0 OT Win at Saint Mary’s

NOTRE DAME, IN - The Calvin women’s soccer team moved to 5-2-0 overall and to 4-1-0 in the MIAA with a 1-0 sudden-death overtime victory at Saint Mary’s College Thursday afternoon. J

unior midfielder Danielle Carter rifled in a shot three minutes into overtime for the game-winning score. Junior Heidi Scholten was credited with an assist on the play. Calvin outshot Saint Mary’s 21-5. Junior goalkeeper Ashton Hearn was credited with the shutout for Calvin.

“This was a quality win against a quality opponent on the road,” said Calvin women’s soccer coach Mark Recker. “I think wins on the road this year will be hard to come by in our league so we’re happy to come out of here with three points.”

With the win, Calvin moves into second place in the MIAA standings, one point behind league-leading Alma.
Calvin will host Adrian on Saturday at noon at Calvin’s Zuidema Field.
