Women’s Golf Eighth at MIAA Tournament - Ninth in Final MIAA Standings

BATTLE CREEK—The Calvin women’s golf team finished eighth at the 36-hole MIAA Tournament, firing a team score of 412 strokes on day two of the tournament - finishing with a final tournament score of 832 strokes. The MIAA Tournament was held at the Bedford Valley Country Club.
Calvin shaved eight strokes off its Friday score on Saturday led by junior Kelli Visser (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) who fired a second day score of 92 to finish with a two-day total of 190 (98-92) to finish in 24th place individually. Junior Emily Tuuk (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) also had a strong day two, firing a round of 95 to finish with a score of 193 (98-95). Next for Calvin was freshman Kelsey Kolk (Jenison/Unity Christian HS) with a round of 105 on Saturday for a two-day total of 204 (99-105). Rounding out Calvin’s finishers was freshman Katy Berghuis (Wyoming/Calvin Christian HS) with a 120 for a two-day total of 245 (125-120).
With its MIAA Tournament score, Calvin finished with a final season total of 2,470 strokes to finish ninth in the final MIAA standings.
Olivet took first place at the MIAA Tournament and also captured the overall MIAA title for the third straight year.
Rosie O’Conner of Saint Mary’s was the tournament medalist with a two-day score of 161 strokes (83-78). O’Conner also finished as the overall season (MVP) medalist.
Individually, Visser placed 23rd in the final MIAA individual standings with a season average of 93.8 strokes per round, ranking as the 12th-best single-season average in Calvin’s women’s golf history. Tuuk placed 26th in the final league standings with an average of 94.8 strokes per round which ranks 16th on the all-time Calvin single-season list.
