Women’s Golf 7th at MIAA Jamboree #1

MARSHALL, MI - The Calvin women’s golf team posted a seventh place team score of 389 strokes on Thursday at the first MIAA Jamboree of the year. The jamboree was hosted by Albion at the Medalist Golf Club.

Calvin was led by senior Emily Tuuk (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) who carded a round of 90 to finish tied for 21st individually. She was followed by freshman Elise Doezema (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) with a 97, senior Kelli Visser (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) with a 99, senior Julienne Louters (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) with a 103 and senior Rachel Strikwerda (Holland/Holland Christian HS) with a 109.

Saint Mary’s took first place honors as a team with a sizzling score of 317 strokes. Martyna Mierzwa of Saint Mary’s and Katlyn Pero of Trine shared medalist honors with rounds of 76.

Calvin finished 12 strokes behind sixth place Kalamazoo and 15 strokes ahead of eighth place Alma.

Calvin returns to action next Wednesday when it competes at a league outing hosted by Hope at the Macatawa Legends Golf Club at 1:00 p.m.
