Women’s Golf 10th at Olivet Fall Invitational

MARSHALL – Calvin took 10th at the 36-hole Olivet Fall Invitational, posting a two-day total of 786 strokes. After shooting a team score of 404 on Friday, Calvin came back with a score of 382 on Saturday paced by a round of 81 by freshman Carlia Canto (Marysville/Port Huron Norther HS). Sophomore Elise Doezema (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a second day round of 92 to finish in a tie for 24th place individually (89-92-181).
Sophomore Rachel Whitaker (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern HS) also had a collegiate-best score of 96 on Saturday to finish with a tournament total of 195 (99-96). Freshmen Ashley Tiefenthal (Manistee/Manistee HS) and Melissa Shepard (Lowell/Lowell HS) both had rounds of 113 on Saturday. Both finished with tournament totals of 221 (108-113).
Wheaton College (IL) won the tournament with a two-day total of 686 strokes, finishing one stroke ahead of host Olivet. Wheaton’s Casi Blanton was the tournament medalist with a two-day total of 159 (79-80).
Calvin returns to action on Wednesday at an MIAA tournament hosted by Olivet at the Medalist Golf Club – the same site of this weekend’s Olivet Fall Invitational.
