Calvin closed out the two-day Wittenberg Border Battle with a pair of upset victories over nationally-ranked opponents Saturday afternoon. Calvin opened with a 25-14, 14-25, 26-24, 25-21 victory over 10th-ranked Ohio Northern. The win marked Calvin’s second victory of the year over the Polar Bears. Ranked 18th in the most recent Division III Top-25 poll, Calvin then rattled off an impressive 25-16, 25-17, 25-14 victory over fifth-ranked and host Wittenberg.

Junior Kelsey Sears (Traverse City/Traverse City West HS) and freshman Rebecca Kamp (Orland Park, IL/Chicago Christian HS) were both named to the all-tournament team. Kamp has now been named to a pair of all-tournament teams this fall as she was also so honored at the season-opening Ohio Northern Polar Bear Invitational Labor Day weekend.

A complete recap of the tournament will be posted later this evening on the Wittenberg web site at: http://www4.wittenberg.edu/news/athletics/volleyball/08info/borderbattle.html

Now 8-2 on the year, Calvin returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Alma for a 6:30 p.m. conference match.
