Volleyball Moves Back Up to #2 in AVCA Division III Top 25 Rankings

The Calvin women’s volleyball team has moved back into the number-two spot of the AVCA Division III Top 25 rankings. The Knights were ranked fourth in last week’s poll but moved up two spots after road wins at Alma and Hope last week. Calvin (23-2) has been ranked number-two for most of the season but slipped to fourth after a loss to Elmhurst College on October 12. Calvin has since reeled off four straight wins. Washington University (Mo.) remains the top-ranked team in the country. Washington defeated Calvin in a five-set match in mid-September. Wittenberg is ranked third. Calvin defeated Wittenberg in a three-set match in September. Christopher Newport is ranked fourth, Hope fifth and Emory sixth. Calvin is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Trine University at 6:30 p.m. Calvin will carry a 34-match MIAA regular season win streak into the contest. The Knights can also clinch a share of the final MIAA regular season crown with a win over Trine.
