Volleyball Finishes 3-0 at Midwest Challenge - Defeats Mount Union on Saturday

HOLLAND - The ninth-ranked Calvin women’s volleyball team finished 3-0 at the Midwest Challenge, defeating Mount Union 25-15, 25-17, 25-23 in a match played at Hope’s DeVos Fieldhouse. Calvin joined Hope as the only two teams with 3-0 records at the weekend exchange tournament which took place on Friday at Calvin.

In its win over Mount Union, Calvin received 15 kills and a pair of service aces from junior Rebecca Kamp (Orland Park, IL/Chicago Christian HS) and nine kills from sophomore Lizzie Kamp (Orland Park, IL/Chicago Christian HS). Junior Renee DeHaan (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) had one block solo and six block assists while junior libero Kelly Peterson (Ramsey, MN/Anoka HS) had 18 digs. Freshman setter Megan Rietema (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) also had 30 assists, five kills, seven digs, three block solos and five block assists.

Calvin will now prepare to travel to Adrian next Tuesday. The match at Adrian will be the MIAA opener for both teams.
