Vande Streek Named NABC Great Lakes District Co-Coach of Year - Snikkers Named to All-District Team

Calvin College men’s basketball coach has landed another post-season honor as has Calvin senior Tom Snikkers. Vande Streek has been named the Division III Great Lakes Co-District Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Meanwhile, Snikkers has been named to the Great Lakes Region All-District second team.
Vande Streek shares the NABC Co-District Coach of the Year honors with Mike DeWitt of Ohio Wesleyan. This year, Vande Streek led Calvin to its third MIAA regular season title in five years and its first MIAA Tournament crown since 2007. He also led Calvin to its first NCAA III Tournament berth since 2007 as the Knights advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA III Tournament. Calvin concluded the year with an overall record of 26-4. Vande Streek recently concluded his 17th season as Calvin men’s basketball coach. He is 334-140 at Calvin (.702) and 426-220 (.658) in 21 years a collegiate head coach. Last week Vande Streek was named the D3hoops.com Great Lakes Region Co-Coach of the Year.
A senior forward, Snikkers hails from Jenison and is a graduate of Hudsonville Unity Christian High School. This year Snikkers averaged 13.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists a game while connecting on 45.7 percent of his field goal attempts. He was a first team All-MIAA selection for the third straight year and was named to the D3hoops.com Great Lakes All-Region team.
Snikkers finished his career with 1,464 points - good for eighth place on the Calvin all-time scoring list in men’s basketball.
