Tyler Berger Named To All-Mideast Region Baseball Team

Calvin College freshman Tyler Berger has been named to the Division III All-Mideast Region third team by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School, Berger took over the starting job in centerfield this spring for the Knights and batted a team-leading .400 with 31 runs scored and 31 runs batted in. He also belted four home runs, 10 doubles and two triples for a slugging percentage of .626. In the field, Berger was stellar, committing just two errors in 72 chances for a fielding percentage of .971.

Bergerís batting average ranks eighth on the Calvin single-season list. His season hit total of 46 ranks 10th on the all-time Calvin single-season list while his runs scored total ranks eighth and his RBI total 10th.

Berger helped Calvin finish 23-17 overall this spring as the Knights hit the 20-win plateau for the second straight year and for the sixth time overall. Berger also helped the Knights take second place in the final MIAA standings with a 20-8 league mark. For his efforts, Berger was named to the All-MIAA first team.
