Travis Vegter Named MIAA Offensive Player of Week in Men’s Soccer for Third Time in 2013

ROYAL OAK, Mich.  Ė The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin forward Travis Vegter its Offensive Player of the Week in menís soccer for games played through Oct. 26. Vegter, a junior from Hudsonville (Unity Christian HS), scored five goals and added an assist in leading the Knights to a pair of MIAA victories that moved them into sole possession of first place in the conference. He scored twice and set up a third goal in a 5-1 win over Adrian, then scored all three goals, including the game-winner in overtime, in a 3-2 victory over Olivet. Vegter leads the MIAA in goals (15) and points (33) in league play. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the third time this season and fourth time in his career. Calvin is back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Kalamazoo for a 7 p.m. game.
