Swimming and Diving Teams Open Triangular Against Albion and ONU

Through one day of competition at a triangular including Ohio Northern and Albion, the Calvin women’s team is in first place with a total of 312.5 points while the Calvin men are in second in the men’s standings with 274 points. Ohio Northern is second in the women’s standings (262.5) followed by Albion in third (259). Ohio Northern leads the men’s standings (338.5) wit Albion third (230.5).
The lone first place finish for the Calvin women’s team came from freshman Adrienne Wesselius in the 50 freestyle (25.20). Sophomore Michaela Rookus was second in the 200 IM (2:15.09). Calvin also won both relays as the 200 freestyle relay team of Rookus, Wesselius, senior Kristen Kinzer and junior Kathryn Wrobel won in a time of 1:40.87 while the Calvin 400 medley relay team of junior Erika Waugh, Rookus, junior Lexi Scott and Wrobel won in a time of 4:09.01.
In the men’s meet, sophomore Aaron Venema won the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:45.04 while freshman Brett Stoughton won the 200 IM (1:59.51). Senior Andrew Mitchell also came up with a victory in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 21.78.
Calvin’s 400 medley relay team of Mitchell, sophomore Johnson Cochran, Stoughton and sophomore Mitch Schroder also won in a time of 3:32.49.
The triangular continues with competition Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and late Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m.
