Box Score

OLIVET - Calvin dropped the second game of a doubleheader with Olivet, falling 4-2 in a game that had been postponed last Saturday because of weather. Calvin (5-6 overall, 1-3 MIAA) took a 2-0 lead in the first, using a pair of Olivet errors to score two unearned runs. Sophomore Kim VandenAkker (Grand Rapids Christian HS) led off the inning with a walk and scored on a muffed throw. Senior Whisper Miller (Reed City HS) also reached base on an error and scored on a groundout by junior Sass VanRooyen (Beamsville, ON).

Calvin’s bats were silenced the rest of the way however as the Knights collected just one hit off of Olivet starter Kelsey Greene. Olivet (9-9 overall, 3-1 MIAA) produced 12 hits and scored a run in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth.

Freshman Shelby Mast (Hudsonville HS) took the loss for Calvin, striking out seven batters in seven innings of work.

Calvin is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Hope at 3:30 p.m. in a conference doubleheader at the Gainey Athletic Complex.
