Softball Drops Two at Judson University

ELGIN, IL - Calvin dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Judson University Friday night, falling 9-1 and 13-2. The Knights are now 8-11 on the season heading into Saturday games against Monmouth and North Central.

In Friday’s opener, Judson (22-18) scored three runs in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth to put the game away. Calvin’s lone run came in the top of the third on a solo homerun by freshman Kyleigh Fri (Allendale HS) - her first as a collegiate player. Freshman Shelby Mast (Hudsonville HS) took the loss to fall to 7-9 on the year.

In game two, Judson scored nine runs in the first two innings to take control early. Sophomore Marie Prins (Unity Christian HS) had a hit in game one and game two, raising her season batting average to .415. Junior Sass VanRooyen (Beamsville, ON) also had a double for the Knights in defeat. Senior Mandy Johnson (Northpointe Christian HS) took the loss for Calvin to fall to 1-2 on the year.

Calvin’s game against Monmouth on Saturday is slated to start at 10 a.m. (CST) with its game against North Central scheduled to start at noon (EST).
