Men’s Tennis Splits Final Two Matches in Orlando

ORLANDO, FL—The Calvin men’s tennis team closed out its spring trip to Florida with a 7-2 victory over Lawrence University (WI) on Friday to improve to 6-2 on the year. On Thursday, Calvin suffered a 6-3 defeat to Luther (IA) in a meeting of regionally-ranked teams as Calvin entered the match ranked 11th in the Central Region while Luther came in ranked 12th. In the loss to Luther, Calvin picked up victories at No. 1 singles from senior Marcus Zeilstra (Oakbrook, IL) and senior Steve DeMaagd (Calvin Christian HS) at No. 2 singles but the Norse claimed wins in the remaining four singles flights. Calvin’s No. 1 doubles team of Zeilstra and DeMaagd also picked up a win the loss.
Calvin returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Alma at 4:00 p.m.
