Men’s Tennis Claims Come-From-Behind Win Over Spring Arbor

The Calvin men’s tennis team improved to 4-2 on the year with a hard-fought 5-4 non-conference win over Spring Arbor University Thursday afternoon at the Orchard Hills Tennis Center. Calvin trailed 3-0 after doubles play but fought back to win five of the six singles points. The clinching point came from sophomore Tom Griffin (Elmhurst, IL/Timothy Christian HS) at No. 6 singles as he claimed a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory.

Other singles victories came from senior Preston Phillips (Bexley, OH/Bexley) at No. 2 singles, senior Philip Reinken (Morton, IL/Morton HS) at No. 3 singles, junior Loukas Peterson (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood) at No. 4 singles and senior Jarrod Brower (Holland/Holland Christian HS) at No. 5 singles. Calvin will now prepare for a pair of non-conference matches this weekend in Wisconsin. Calvin will face Ripon on Friday and Lakeland on Saturday.
