The Calvin men’s soccer team will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for a four-team NCAA III Sectional Tournament this weekend.

Action in the Oshkosh Sectional begins Friday with a 6 p.m. (EST) match between UW-Oshkosh and Loras College (Iowa). That contest will be followed by a 8:30 p.m. (EST) game between Calvin College (Mich.) and UW-Whitewater. Friday’s winners meet Saturday at 7 p.m. (EST) for the sectional championship and a trip to San Antonio, Texas, for the semifinals and final on Dec. 3-4.

In addition to UW-Oshkosh, other sectional hosts are Bowdoin College (Maine), Muhlenberg College (Pa.) and Ohio Wesleyan University.

UW-Oshkosh (18-0-3), ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, started its tournament trail with a 2-1 overtime win over Carroll University and a 2-0 victory over North Park University (Ill.) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The Titans, who shared the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) title with UW-Whitewater, are appearing in their 12th NCAA Division III Championship.

Unranked Loras College (16-6-1) opened its postseason schedule with a 3-1 triumph over Greenville College (Ill.). The Duhawks then eliminated Washington University (Mo.), 2-0 on penalty kicks, after the teams battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie. Loras College, which shared the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title with the University of Dubuque (Iowa) and Wartburg College (Iowa), is appearing in its sixth NCAA Division III Championship.

17th-ranked Calvin College (16-2-4) topped Ohio Northern University, 2-0, in its tournament debut. The Knights then ousted Dominican University (Ill.), 3-1 on penalty kicks, after the squads played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie. Calvin College, which shared the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association title with Hope College (Mich.), is appearing in its 10th NCAA Division III Championship after dropping a 2-0 decision to Messiah College (Pa.) in last year’s title match.

15th-ranked UW-Whitewater (14-2-3) kicked off its tournament trek with wins of 2-0 over Macalester College (Minn.) and 3-0 over Augsburg College (Minn.). The WIAC co-champion Warhawks are appearing in their 10th NCAA Division III Championship.
